Teaching Philosophy

I believe that in many ways every person is a student and a teacher at the same time. I have the opportunity to learn something new from my students in every class that I teach. Every student is unique and so is every class, therefore, it is important to always listen and address every situation individually. I also believe it is vital to explain and show students practical applications of concepts taught. Students that understand why it is important to learn something and how they can apply it in the real world will develop a better appreciation and retention of the material.

Learning should be an exciting and fun "experience" where we "learn how to learn" and many different kinds of lessons that should go beyond what it is presented to us in class or in a textbook. Finally, I believe that teaching is a joyful opportunity to introduce students to new and useful subjects, to encourage and empower them, to stimulate their imagination and curiosity, to guide them in their academic journey, and to hopefully make a difference in their lives.

Affiliations & Hobbies

I love science fiction, fantasy, action, and medieval TV series/movies. Some of my favorites include: Star Trek, Star Wars, The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, The Borgias, Tudors, West World, and the Harry Potter saga. I also enjoy strategy games like Chess and video-games in general. Furthermore, I enjoy long walks, online shopping, reading, and travelling. Although I have visited many European, American, and Asian countries, there are still many places I would like to see like Japan and Australia.

Teaching has many rewards, but students' kind words at the end of a term are a precious gift that motivate me to continue doing my best.
